Ski Courses Details
1. Informal & Fun!
Ski with us, not following behind us – learning, being encouraged, challenged and above all having fun, is what our courses aspire to. Teaching that makes sense, from top British teachers who know what they are talking about. It’s not ski school, we ‘go skiing’ in a small, friendly groups (average 6/7) at your level, learning how to tackle the conditions that you may have problems with, giving you tools and techniques to improve, help and give you the confidence on those slopes that you feel ‘you never quite manage to master’.
Our teaching is clear, simple, inspiring and works! We concentrate on simple, sound aspects of skiing that allow you to have the tools to focus on specific techniques for specific slopes/conditions. Whatever you want to learn, improve on, we can teach you.
Your level often depicts what areas you may wish to work on, whether it’s, learning to control your speed on the steeper slopes, building your confidence on slopes that you cannot seem to master, challenging you in terrain and on slopes that you would not normally think about skiing, or just working on your all round performance across all the variables the mountain has to offer. Either way it’s your holiday and we never forget that, we just aim to make it a better one!
2. Course Hours
Half Day Courses: 3 hours a day for 5 days. (Day off may vary dependent on arrival date. Wednesday is usually the free day if arrival is on Saturday)
Full Day Courses: 5-6 hours a day for 5 days . (Day off may vary dependent on arrival date. Wednesday is usually the free day if arrival is on Saturday)
3 Day Courses: 5-6 hours for 2 days, 3 hours for one day.
3. Moving levels during the course
We try to encourage movement between groups during the course if necessary. So if you are looking for greater challenges or would like to take it easier we have that flexibility. We ask you to make sure you speak to your instructor or the course leader as soon as possible if you feel you are not in the correct group or wish to move groups.
4. It’s your course
Remember it’s your course. You know how fast you want to ski, what challenges you would like to make, what aspect of skiing you would like to improve. Don’t worry about ‘not being able to keep up’ or on the other hand ‘not being challenged enough’. We will design the course around you.
5. Your Age and Fitness
Fitness – If you are concerned about your fitness at all please speak to us, email us. It is better to drop or raise your level slightly if you feel you are below or above average fitness. Call us to discuss if you are at all concerned about your age or fitness.
6. Feedback and Video Evenings
Most evenings, except on any days off or travel days we provide an optional, informal session that allows us to clarify the days activities, possibly revise the course to fit individual needs and look through any video footage. These sessions are a huge help to learning and great fun over a drink or two. Very informal, not optional but a real bonus.
7. Welcome Meeting
Our instructors will organise an optional welcome meeting on the evening of your arrival in resort. This is a chance for us to let you know all about the course ahead, the snow, weather conditions, to arrange the groups for the first day, to recommend ski equipment if you are hiring and for you to ask any questions.
8. Coming on the course by yourself
Don’t worry if you are on your own, many clients come on their own and often come back year after year, it’s a great way to ski with people of similar standard, not get overly pressured or just enjoy skiing at YOUR LEVEL. There are always others to ski with outside of the course, it’s a formula that works!
9. Different levels amongst your partners and friends
Many couples and groups consist of skiers of different levels. Our courses are a great way to spend a skiing holiday. No more frustration of ‘not being able to keep up’ or skiing ‘too slowly on easy runs’. You can ski with others who are the same level as yourself and still have time to ski with partners and friends outside of the course. If course times are different we alternate the sessions every other day.
10. Hiring Ski Equipment
Having the right equipment, both for your level and the type of skiing that you plan to do is vital in helping you to develop your performance as quickly as possible. Our instructors will be available at the welcome evening prior to the start of the course, it is advisable to wait until you have spoken to them if you are at all unsure of what equipment to hire or email us for any advice prior to your course.
11. Off Piste Courses/Equipment
We do request that when attending an Off Piste Course that you bring a back pack to carry appropriate kit within. We also advise that you purchase or hire a ‘transceiver’ and possibly a shovel and probe. We do have a number of these for hire in resort. We can also help advise you on which ‘transceiver’ to purchase/hire and give you some contacts in order to attain these. If you require any further details for now, please email us or go to our Safety & Equipment Page.
