Courmayeur
Nestling on the southeastern slope of the Mont Blanc massif, Courmayeur’s dramatic alpine scenery has 14 peaks over 4000m. Founded in the 17th century as a spa town located at the very top of the Aosta valley, Courmayeur has world-famous charm. The Courmayeur resort is split into three main areas or towns: Courmayeur, on a south-facing ridge; Dolonne, just over the river in the valley; and Entrèves, a little way up the valley from Dolonne. Each has its own lift to the resort ski area. From the highest point of the ski area, the Cresta d’Arp, you’ll find a whole array of challenging off-piste options, for intermediates to advanced skiers, our instructors and guides know the area very well and know where the best snow can be found.
Accommodation
1. Chalet Hotel Cristallo
Sleeps 30+
New to us this season we are delighted to be running a course in the Italian resort of Courmayeur, a stones throw away from Chamonix ( just through the Mont Blanc tunnel ). We are running this package in conjunction with Mark Warner and the chalet hotel they opeate here. With plenty of Italian style and flourish and an intimate feel, the Cristallo is a lovely chalethotel in the heart of Courmayeur amongst the shops, bars and restaurants. The main cable car is 5 minutes away by foot and skis and boots can be conveniently left in lockers on the slopes. Inside the Cristallo stone floors are covered with big rugs, the walls are paneled with carved wood and the antique furniture gives the hotel a warm elegant feel.
